Financial Reporting

‘r kids, Inc. is a 501(c) and files a IRS Form 990 annually and is audited each year.  Transparency is very important.  Below are highlights from the most recent reported year along with links to the historical 990 Forms filed with the IRS and to the audited reports for the last three reported years.

About 80% of the revenue received is directly related to providing services to clients.  The remaining is used for administration and fund development.  ‘r kids achieves meaningful results with its programs.  For example, the reunification rate for children served was 83% for ‘r kids compared to the DCF rate of 52%.

SeriousGivers.org reports:

  • 60% – 80% of a nonprofits revenue is an acceptable range to be spent on direct services.
  • If an organization reports spending more than 80% on programs, that means it is spending less than 20% on administration and fundraising.
  •  While an organization might be proud of minimizing administrative and fundraising costs, we believe that well-run organizations must spend meaningful resources on administration and fundraising.
  • Program spending percentages should not be used standing alone. They are part of an overall evaluation of a charity and its performance. A charity spending an apparently suitable percentage on programs, where the programs themselves accomplish little, is by no means an effective charity.
