The 'r kids Family Center is a 501(c)3, Connecticut based non-profit organization committed to providing specialized, high quality services to children in out-of-home care and their families; promoting permanency, safety and stability for children through services to their biological, foster or adoptive families.
We were founded in New Haven, Connecticut in 1996 by a grassroots group of concerned community professionals, foster and adoptive parents. The 'r kids Family Center is a licensed child placing agency through the state of Connecticut Department of Children and Families, and is credentialed through Applied Behavioral Health for a variety of child welfare related services.
‘r kids Family Center celebrated 10 years of service to children and families with more than 70 guests on Wednesday, November 16,2011 at the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale. The evening included presentation of the 2011 “Toni” Awards to four New Haven community leaders. Named in honor of State Senator Toni Harp, D-New Haven, these honors celebrate those who are Champions for Children in the region.
Recipients included nationally renowned children’s permanency expert Sarah B. Greenblatt, Frank Alvarado, Executive Director Spanish American Merchants Association, Raul Avila , child advocate, clinician and former New Haven Alderman and Chris DePino, international musician and former Connecticut State Representative and State Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party.
‘r kids also announced receipt of an anonymous gift of $15,000 to create an endowment fund at the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. Foundation President and CEO William W. Ginsberg revealed the gift which came, in part, to honor the late Annette Windom, a well known community pharmacist and educational advocate for youth.
